I wanted to examine the gesture of giving as it is presented to us in pictures and stories. First, I decided to consider the spectacular form that the magnificent gift takes in the ritual of generosity. The gifts thus scattered had a certain resemblance to the gifts that Fortune spills randomly from the cornucopia.
