Truth and method is considered the main work of Hans-Georg Gadamer (1900-2002), one of the most important philosophers of the 20th century. The book was first published in 1960.
During his long life, Gadamer became the "embodiment of hermeneutic philosophy", and in the book Truth and Method he rethought fundamental hermeneutic concepts such as the circularity of understanding, pre-understanding, the relationship between authority and tradition, the problem of application, the dialectic of questions and answers.
