Summary
Milan Kangrga: Nationalism or democracy
The book contains a cycle of texts written by prof. Dr. Milan Kangrga wrote in ten years at the end of the last century and the beginning of this century, "surprised by the events in which the new barbarians on this land were mindlessly destroying the results of our half-century of construction and threatening the destruction of everything human". In these texts, he tries to explain the very essence of the relationship between nationalism and democracy, resolutely rejecting, among other things, theses about "nationalist democracy" or "democratic nationalism", or about "good nationalism". He believes that nationalism and democracy are "absolutely mutually exclusive", and that the right choice is either nationalism or democracy. "I tried to shed light on nationalism, that burning problem, from different aspects, and one could say: that terrible fate of mankind on this suffering soil for centuries - which will probably be followed by future generations," he points out in the preface. Here are the titles of some texts: What is "good nationalism"; Taliban comrades in spirit and deed; New barbarians at work - book killing; Nationality is not and cannot be a political program; Democracy and revolution; What a democracy; Marxism – a living or dead thought...
