Summary
Sanja Bojanić: On the women's issue or sexual capital
From the cover:
"Sexual capital [...] I define as a socially recognized attraction that is strategically capitalized within the framework of the academy, through market and media mechanisms. The key question is: how is it that the mobilization of sexual capital in a post-patriarchal, neoliberal context promises the empowerment of women, yet perpetuates gender inequalities? The thesis on sexual capital as a link that commodifies intimacy and normalizes authoritarian patterns, I associate with the transformation of the inherited patriarchal matrix over the female body into a market-regulated, but equally restrictive practice."
