Summary
Xenophon: Essays on Economics
The book Essays on Economics brings translations of two key works of the classical Greek author Xenophon, which influenced the development of the idea of economics. It was the first, under the original Greek title Οiκονομικός, that stimulated the emergence of the term "economy". But it should be added that in Croatian, that title, according to the established custom, is marked as "About the economy". Xenophon's second work in this book of ours, originally: Πόροι ἢ περὶ Προσόδων - literally "Means or Incomes", also deals with the topic of economics.
Moses I. Finley, the author of a very important review of "ancient economics", highlighted that work as well - and that is why we felt that it should definitely be translated. We hope that Essays on Economics will be an interesting and useful book, especially for students of classical studies and economics, but also for readers with different related interests. 4th century BC Cr.
