Summary
Čedomil Veljačić: Philosophia perennis I
Discourses in comparative philosophy I-III
The first volume of selected specialist works in the field of comparative philosophy written from the mid-sixties to the mid-eighties of the 20th century. The discussions in this part are classified into three groups: in the first, after an introductory study on the problems and methods of comparative philosophy, the author first deals with the Indian origin of Pyrrhon's philosophy of epoche, and then with Indian analogies in Plotinus' philosophy. The second group begins with a discussion of the ethos of knowledge in European and Indian philosophy, continues with a text on Hegel and Indian philosophy, and ends with a topic on Nietzsche and the idea of the superman in modern Indian philosophy. The third group talks about Schopenhauer and Buddhism, studies Buddha and Nietzsche from the point of view of the philosophy of disgust, and looks for a correlation between Buddhism and contemporary philosophy of existence. Two contributions follow: one on Russian nihilism of the 19th century, and the other on Max Scheler's "soul-substance".
