Summary
Karl Popper: Assumptions and refutations
Growth of scientific knowledge
The philosophy of logical positivism is part of the general intellectual environment in which Karl Popper was formed. Although he himself was never a member of this philosophical group, the problems that were posed and solved there provided the basic impetus to his thinking and philosophical activity. Popper's penchant for philosophizing was articulated very early, by formulating questions to which he would search for answers for the rest of his life. And they read: When should a theory be ranked as scientific? Is there a criterion for determining the scientific character or scientific status of a theory?
