Summary
Dean Komel: The Meaning of Mediation
Komel is an engaged philosopher who, in his own way, tries to defend the dignity of art in the age of the technical constellation of battle in the everyday discourse.
The texts collected under the title The Meaning of Mediation touch on issues of phenomenology, hermeneutics and Europeanness, issues that I have been developing for approximately ten years. What again and again provokes the thematization of phenomenology in approaching its subject itself is the openness of the world, a conception that exceeds the traditional schemes of philosophy. As the openness of the world was presented, in the previous century it was first exposed by philosophical hermeneutics, which is not only one of the influential directions of contemporary philosophy, but also presents us with the problem of modernity itself. It is precisely in this context that the question of the meaning of the Europeanness of encounter and mediation opens up.
At this point, I would like to thank the editor and publisher, Mr. Dimitrije Savić, for kindly accepting the manuscript for publication in the Philosophical Library of Demetra, the translator Mario Kopić, because he made the translation with the utmost attention to philosophical words...
