Everywhere they assure us that after a long absence she has returned to the people of the modern world and that it would be good to take her new presence seriously. [...] Today, indeed, something is coming back - but the usual answer that religion is coming back again cannot satisfy critical questioning. It is neither about the return of something that had disappeared nor about changing the emphasis in a never-separated continuum. What is really coming back, which would deserve all the intellectual attention, has a more anthropological than a "religious" peak - in a word, it is an insight into the immune system of a human being. After several centuries of experiments with new forms of life, the insight crystallized that people, no matter what ethnic, economic and political conditions they live in, do not exist only in "material circumstances", but also in symbolic immune systems and under the cloak of rituals. In the following, we will talk about their weaving.
