Summary
Remo Bodei: Sublime Landscapes
The book of the Italian philosopher, professor of the history of philosophy at the UCLA University in Los Angeles and the University of Pisa, is for him "a kind of philosophical educational novel, a kind of research journey through space and time", in which he studies and describes the migration of the sublime from the realm of literature and rhetoric of the ancient era to the realm of nature "starting from the end from the 17th century until its connection with the history of the 19th century, and with politics, through the "great totalitarianisms" of the 20th century. It is supremely worthy of attention because it lifts people out of their instinctive animality and prevents them from indulging in everyday banalities, supports the inclination to deep intellectual and emotional experiences and in every way teaches and strengthens, and encourages self-esteem in the human being.
