Summary
Laertius Diogenes: Life and Opinions of Eminent Philosophers
The book Diogenes Laertius: "Lives and Opinions of Eminent Philosophers" is important as a source that replaces many texts lost in antiquity. On the basis of Diogenes' excerpts, we can nevertheless get to know certain philosophical teachings, and thus also the idea of philosophy, as it was understood at the time. If we single out the doxographic part, which is not uninteresting and insignificant, on the contrary, there will remain texts that are the foundation of philosophical thinking. Diogen is certainly one of the first and most significant writers, doxologists and historians of philosophy.
