Stephen King (Portland, 1947), the "King of Horror", is the author of over fifty novels and two hundred stories of dark fantasy, suspense and horror. Among his most important works are the classics of fantasy literature: "Carrie", "Pet Cemetery", "It", "The Stronghold", "The Dark Tower" and "Salem". Most of King's works are set in Maine, where he spent his entire life. Among the most significant awards that King received for his work are the American Literary Foundation Medal for Contribution to World Literature (2003), the National Medal of Arts (2014), as well as numerous awards for genre creativity: "Bram Stoker", World Prize for Fantasy, Locus, Hugo, "Shirley Jackson" and many others. His works have been translated into almost all world languages and have sold more than 350 million copies.
