Summary
Leon Kojen: Studies on Serbian verse
"To Prof. Košutić's theory," wrote Kiril Taranovski half a century ago, "we oppose the theory of special laws of Serbian verse that should be discovered from the practice of Serbian poets and explained by the nature of the Serbian language." With that sentence of Taranovski, the research program is clearly defined for anyone who wants to shed light on the nature of Serbian verse. This book was written with the ambition to realize an important part of that research program - to discover and precisely formulate the special laws of Serbian verse in the period of classical Serbian artistic poetry, from the appearance of Branko Radičević's *Songs* in 1847 until 1914, a year that marked the border between two literary and also two political eras in Serbian history.
