Summary
Ivan Antić: Meditation: the first and last step from understanding to practice
The term 'meditation' will be used here only because it is generally accepted, although a more correct name for what is being discussed here would be 'contemplation'. This word comes from the Latin word contemplatio, which etymologically means reaching a high place (templum) from which the vision is sufficiently objective and accurate. It consists of the prefix con, which means connection, synchronization, and templum, a temple or holy place where connection with the divine is possible, receiving messages from the divine. As it is not about an external temple but an internal experience, the word 'contemplation' practically means reaching the inner sanctum, that state of exaltation in one's own being through which it is possible to connect with the higher, divine consciousness of the soul and harmonize with it. It is a change in the state of consciousness to a higher level. Turning one's being into a temple of divine presence. It is precisely this practice of achieving the most objective possible consciousness in man, which connects his individual consciousness with the objective reality or the divine consciousness that makes everything possible, that will be called 'meditation' here, because that term is generally accepted, although the word 'meditation' literally means only focused thinking. However, it is not wrong to use the word 'meditation' here because this discussion presents a focused conception of what contemplation is. This is a meditation on contemplation, understanding contemplation, because it is possible only with correct understanding.
Meditation or contemplation is a method that quickly awakens a person to the knowledge of reality, or more precisely, a method that removes the illusion of time during which we imagine that we are something other than what we really are, that we are separated from the highest reality. Through meditation, a person harmonizes with reality. Alignment with reality is the study and practice of meditation.
