Summary
Melvin Morse, Paul Perry: Reaching the Light: Insights into Children's Near-Death Experiences (NDEs).
From the Preface:
With the publication of Life After Life, more than ten years ago, I threw down the gauntlet of a challenge to the medical profession to continue researching the miraculous phenomenon of the NDE.
Many researchers and physicians readily accepted the challenge. They began to intensively deal with this incredible mental phenomenon, using numerous aids and methods available in modern medicine. Their work resulted in a huge new field of research, which today we call studies of the "close to death" phenomenon.
Of all these researchers, the most interesting work is the study of Melvin Morse.
Dr. Morse is a caring pediatrician who started working on this topic after the case of a little girl who almost drowned. The timid and dear little girl Katie hovered on the brink of death for three days. She was in such a deep coma that she was breathing only thanks to medical instruments. No one, not even Dr. Morse, held out hope that Katie would survive.
And then, suddenly, as if waking from a deep sleep, Katie regained consciousness. Within twenty-four hours, this sleeping beauty woke up and started talking normally, showing no signs of brain damage.
It was truly a miracle. However, it wasn't until a few days later that Dr. Morse discovered the real miracle. He was interested in how the accident happened, so he asked the girl if someone pushed her under the water or if she had a fainting attack while swimming. Common questions to help the doctor determine the appropriate course of treatment. The answers he received amazed Dr. Morse. When he asked Katie what happened in the pool, she responded by asking, "You mean, when did I see Heavenly Father?"
