Summary
Cvito Fisković: Diocletian's Palace
Contribution to study and protection
Cvito Fisković (1908 - 1996), art historian and conservator, with his research work on the cultural-historical heritage of Dalmatia, based on archival records and analysis of the architectural-plastic heritage of artistic and cultural monuments, opened completely new dimensions in the study of domestic cultural heritage. He proved that the works of architecture and sculpture on our coast are stylistically, formally and contentally closely related to the creativity of local masters and that they are an inseparable part of the soil and the people to which they belong. That is why, in the year when the City of Split celebrates its great anniversary of its foundation, it is impossible to forget the great merits that Cvito Fisković has, not only in the study of our monumental heritage, but above all in its permanent valorization, preservation and protection, especially Diocletian's Palace. The book was prepared for printing and accompanied by an introductory text by Joško Belamarić.
