"Infinitely Demanding" is a systematic review of Critchley's philosophical position, from phenomenological ethics to political theory and political analysis. This work led to discussions and polemics, especially with the Slovenian philosopher Slavoj Žižek.

Simon Critchley (1960) is a contemporary versatile English philosopher whose interests and areas of expertise extend to European philosophy of the 19th and 20th centuries, the history of philosophy, literature, ethics and politics. He received his doctorate on the ethics of deconstruction with Emmanuel Levinas and Jacques Derrida. He taught at the universities in Cardiff and Essex, collaborated with universities in Frankfurt, Paris, Sydney, New York, Oslo, Tilburg. 

For a number of years he was the president of the British Phenomenological Society, and now he is the chief philosopher of the respected avant-garde network that operates under the name of the International Necronautical Society.
