Kant Immanuel

Summary

Immanuel Kant: Philosophical Thoughts

The body is only the form of the soul.
Those whose life has the greatest value are the least afraid of death.
I had to abolish knowledge in order to make room for belief.
It is a pity that man must die just when he begins to understand how he should live.
What value does life have if it is judged only by what man enjoys?
The history of nature begins with good because it is the work of God; the history of freedom begins with evil because it is the work of man.
Reason cannot observe anything, and the senses cannot think anything. Only if they are united can knowledge emerge.
What value does life have if its value is judged only by what one enjoys?
The thought I am not cannot exist at all, because if I am not, then I also cannot be aware that I am not.
Death is not the absolute termination of life, but rather the release of obstacles to a perfect life.
Faith that is commanded is nonsense.
Everyone has a price to pay. sells.
A woman does not reveal her secret, although it will be difficult to keep someone else's secret (due to talkativeness).

LIFE AND DOCTRINE OF IMMANUEL KANT

If you look at Kant's life (1724 - 1804), it looks like a typical life of a German scholar, led meticulously and precisely, Old Frankish, a bit bizarre. And yet, in this and such a framework, the image of one of the greatest achievements that philosophy knows about was created. After Kant said what he had to say, no one could philosophize in the same way as it was done before him. That is why his opinion is a true turning point in the history of the philosophical spirit.

But what is Kant's philosophizing about? There is no simple answer to that question. There are almost as many different interpretations of Kant as there are interpreters of his philosophy. In addition, his language is heavy, cumbersome, often very unclear. Kant's intention is probably best revealed when, as his authentic interest, the question of what is truly effective in visible and changing reality is interpreted, i.e. the question of the unconditioned of everything conditioned.

This means that his thinking was mainly focused on what has been referred to since antiquity as meta-physics: he wondered about what goes beyond, behind or beyond the immediate givens, he wondered about the first and last foundation. reality. Kant himself testifies to this: It is my destiny to be in love with metaphysics. The true and permanent good of the human race rests on metaphysics. This is precisely why human nature cannot be indifferent to the subject of metaphysics.

That is why Kant had to breathe new life into metaphysical thought. It is difficult to accept his arguments completely. But the most important thing is that Kant, at the time of doubts about metaphysics, had the courage to make a new metaphysical breakthrough, to try to go beyond the rings of the finite and reach the absolute.

Because philosophizing does not mean finding an answer that will calm us down. Philosophizing means always asking important questions anew. That is why even Kant's solution to metaphysical problems cannot be valid for all time. In the crises of thought that have befallen humanity since then, metaphysical certainty has been repeatedly called into question, and today more than ever before. But Kant was convinced: That the human spirit will once completely give up metaphysical research is just as difficult to expect as it is that, in order to no longer breathe impure air, we will completely close our airways.

Man will constantly return to metaphysics like lovers who quarreled with us.
