Summary
Jan Patočka: A Selection from Philosophical Writings
The writings collected in this volume bring a representative selection of the works of one of the greatest phenomenologists outside the German cultural area and one of the greatest Slavic philosophers of the 20th century. Jan Patočka, to some extent following the historical thinking of Husserl and Heidegger, but with a lot of decisive, independent steps, in texts written in an unusually receptive language, ponders the questions of the beginnings and historical fate of European culture, as well as the problems of the situation of the contemporary world. In addition to developed philosophical and cultural reflection, Patočka's writings abound with brilliant interpretations of the history of philosophy.
