Summary
Maroje Višić: Criticism and resistance
Basic features of Herbert Marcuse's critical philosophy
The intention of this paper is to reevaluate the intellectual legacy of Herbert Marcuse, a once extremely influential, but today mostly forgotten critical-utopian thinker, fifty years after the first publication of the work Man of One Dimension. Marcuse's entire philosophy and the genealogy of his thought are presented, with an emphasis on the early works in which he bases his position, but also on Marcuse's most significant challengers, such as MacInytre and Schoolman. In conclusion, the author reflects on the relevance and applicability of Marcuse's philosophy to today's social situation.
