Summary

Diego Fusaro: Think Differently

Philosophy of Disagreement

The book by the Italian philosopher of Gramscian Marxist orientation, Diego Fusaro, is an important contribution to the fight for freedom of thought, speech and advocating a different position from the socially dominant one. He who thinks is a non-conformist who is not afraid to be in the minority. The most beautiful and powerful voices do not sing in a choir, but are the characteristics of soloists. There are few examples that demonstrate the truth of this sentence as strikingly as the book Think Differently. Throughout the work, the author challenges the ruling values and norms that the neoliberal order imposes as self-evident on the atomized global society. However, in his confrontation with consumer culture, the "profit right" and neoliberalism, he does not spare the "cultural left", intellectuals and journalists, in Gramsci's vocabulary, "functionaries of the superstructure", showing that they also greatly contributed to the creation of a politically correct discourse that prevents criticism as a conditio sine qua non of social development. Precisely because the existing is banal and self-explanatory, it is largely spared criticism, and thus the development of personality and society is hindered.
