Summary
Bertrand Russell: Principles of Social Reconstruction
"I want to propose a philosophy of politics based on the conviction that impulse is more powerful in shaping people's lives than conscious intention. Most impulses can be divided into two groups - possessive and creative impulses - according to whether they are directed to the acquisition or retention of something that cannot be shared or to the introduction into the world of some valuable thing, such as knowledge, art or goodwill, in which there is no private property. I believe that the best life is that which is largely built on creative impulses, and the worst one that is predominantly inspired by the love of possession."
