Summary
W.B. Gallie: Essentially Disputed Concepts
Acknowledging that a given term is intrinsically disputed entails the recognition of rival usages; on the contrary, to regard any rival usage as anathema, perversion, monstrosity, or lunatic is, in many cases, to submit to the chronic danger to man of looking suspiciously at the value of the rival position.
Walter Bryce Gallie
It is possible, and I believe likely, that the politics of these disputes will become more enlightened if the parties to the dispute realize that in many contexts a single use cannot necessarily be preferred to which they must accept all reasonable persons.
