Summary
Adriana Zaharijević: The life of the body. Political philosophy of Judith Butler
Working on this monograph, the author made a competent, original and critical synthesis of the entire work of Judith Butler, pointing out not only the development thread of her opinion but also the way in which ontology, politics and gender/corporeality can be connected in a unique critique of contemporary philosophy, on the one hand, and contemporary bourgeois liberal politics and political philosophy, on the other. In this sense, this work opens up new ways to relate to political experience and enables the transformation of political attitudes and viewpoints towards the affirmation of non-violence. This is also a text that argues with critics of J. Butler within the framework of feminist theory, who object to her speculativeness "detached from reality" and incomprehensibility, which supposedly dilutes the edge of feminist criticism of society and at the same time collapses the clear positioning of women as full-fledged political actors. In a very beautiful, comprehensible and comprehensive way, the author shows the applicability of philosophical discourse to the understanding of fundamental political categories, key to the process of emancipation, which are suppressed and insufficiently illuminated both in classical political philosophy and in concrete practices of political activity.
