Summary
Ćiro Truhelka, archaeologist, ethnographer, anthropologist and researcher, founder, first curator and director of the National Museum in Sarajevo, more than a century ago published a monograph on the most important ruler of Ottoman Bosnia - the gazi and benefactor Husrev-beg. Wanting to make this, superior as a writer and precious as a documentarian, reading available to today's readers, we decided to publish it again in our Bosnian portraits edition, which consists of books about completely different people. In it, kings and poets, football players and painters, warriors and actors, crowned and exiled, celebrated and despised, are in it, side by side. With a series of portraits, we create a landscape by sketching the country in its details - culture, tradition, beliefs, nature, climate... but also hopes, fears, wishes and dreams. Truhelka's monograph Gazi Husrefbeg, his life and his era is one of those books that convincingly and powerfully depict the true face of Bosnia.
