Summary
Gunn Imsen: What is pedagogy?
"Another feature of the traditional understanding of socialization and education is that norms and values are something that is passed on from generation to generation, or from parents to children. And this can be questioned. Since the processes of socialization are not only transferred to institutions, but also to a greater extent to peers and the commercialized culture of children and youth, young people have taken care of a good part of the socialization themselves. This is especially visible within youth a culture where trends and fashions are formed that are not only related to clothes, but also to language, taste, lifestyle and what is "in" in terms of interests. For example, in some youth cultures it is not allowed to be interested in natural subjects, while in others it is not cool at all to be a good student. If this is true, then we glimpse the contours of a society in which the generation of adults has lost control over education, and is on the way to being taken over by international youth cultures driven by commercial interests. In the commercial world, as is known, there are no other norms than that of making as much money as possible." Gunn Imsen, "What is pedagogy?"
