Responsible editor and publisher: Mijo Krešić

Mijo (Miško) Krešić was born on Easter, March 22, 1818, in Karlovac, in the family of a wealthy grain merchant, who was involved in successful wheat and corn speculation.

Years In 1861, he started publishing the fiction paper Naše gore list, which he edited and published for five full years at his own expense, with great sacrifices. He decided on this undertaking, despite the fact that he was not particularly interested in literature. He considered it simply his patriotic duty, because no one else would. Awareness of the need for a Croatian literary magazine in the era when, after the defeat at Solferino, a return to constitutionality was expected, was then general. The proclamation about starting the newsletter was published on December 12, 1860, but the preparations lasted a whole year, as evidenced by Krešić's correspondence. He corresponded with the young Šeno, who was still in Prague at the time, Luka Botić, Ivan Perkovac, Eugen Kvaternik, Mihovil Pavlinović, Vinko Pacel, Ivan Danilo, Ivan Dežman, Josip Juraj Strossmayer and Nikola Strmić.

Naše gore was published three times a month, bringing together the most important intellectuals of the time. Almost all important Croatian writers contributed their contributions to it: Pavao Štoos, Petar Preradović, Janko Jurković, Luke Botić, Dragojla Jarnevićeva, Ferdo Filipović, August Šenoa, Ivan Dežman, Ljuboje Lopašić, Blaž Lorković, Vilim Korajac, Ivan Trnski and Josip Eugen Tomić. Among the informative texts, Đuro Deželić was especially represented, "who from then on will fill literary magazines for more than half a century, which with their own, more or less reliable, but always legible contributions from Croatian cultural history and contemporary life. Continuing the Illyrian Slavic line, Naše gore list regularly informs about literary events in the Slavic world, while everything that appears about Gaje's former Illyrian area is called Yugoslavia. Mijo Krešić was the responsible editor and publisher of that entertaining and educational magazine, whose "editing and administrative offices" were located in Duga Street no. 786. It was printed in Brzotisk Antun Jakić in Zagreb.
