Zora dalmatinska was the first Croatian revivalist literary magazine in the Croatian language that was published in Dalmatia.
Part of the Dalmatian citizens who accepted revivalist ideas met, exchanged ideas and read revivalist magazines and newspapers. The activities of that part of the citizenry increased over time, and the result was the magazine Zora dalmatinska, which began to be published in 1844 in Zadar.
Ante Kuzmanić is most responsible for starting the magazine. On the back cover of the first issue, Petr Preradović's poem Zora puca, biće dana was published. Zora dalmatinska is the first revival magazine outside Zagreb. It published the works of European writers, and on its pages readers could also find translations of Homer, Dante, Catullus, recent romantics... Numerous members of Zadar's literary circle collaborated in Zora dalmatinska.
