The Crusades are one of the most interesting phenomena, not only in the history of the Middle Ages, but in the entire history of mankind. This topic continues to arouse the interest of both experts and the general readership. The book covers the period from 1095 and the Council of Clermont to the tragic end of Louis IX. Saint Augustus in 1270. The basic thread of the book is complemented by brief overviews of the history of Byzantium, Western Europe and the Muslim world. The authors managed to create a book that will not leave readers indifferent with its interesting descriptions of the most important battles and events. Along with the wars, the two-way influence that the two conflicting cultures will have on each other is especially emphasized. The meeting between East and West was not limited and ended by wars, but continued and permeated. Along with numerous illustrations, the text is enriched with historical maps that more closely define the geographical area of the Crusades.
