This jubilee year of the city of Split, Grga Novak's capital book History of Split is being published once again.
The author concluded his historical narrative with the end of the 19th century and with the time when Split finally began its modern national development. Like most of Grga Novak's books, this one is based on archival documents and fully verified secondary literature. However, what gives Novak's History of Split a special meaning and makes its contemporary publication more than necessary, stems from the fact that the archival material on which it is based, for the most part, was destroyed after the disaster of the Split archive at the end of World War II.
