Summary

Stipo Pilić, Blanka Matković: Jasenovac and the post-war Jasenovac camps - a geostrategic point of Greater Serbia's policy and the propaganda engine of its expansion towards the West

"...it should be noted that the book Jasenovac and the post-war Jasenovac camps: A geostrategic point of Greater Serbia's politics and the propaganda engine of its expansion towards the West provides a significant positive shift, in fact in this way it is a kind of novelty in the research of the given With their meticulous approach, the authors Stipo Pilić and Blanka Matković opened up numerous questions and offered equally valuable answers, but also highlighted the enormous possibilities and needs of further research on this topic, which still creates significant social stratification in the Republic of Croatia. Dealing with Jasenovac in the war period, especially the post-war Jasenovac camps, is a demanding endeavor that requires perseverance, objectivity and rejection of ideological components as an accompanying negative element in filling the mosaic of the reality of the past. The whole book, with its content and scope, provides the possibility of a quality insight into limited historical events, and thus ranks the authors among the valuable actors in the historical sense who, with their mark, remain indispensable participants in this type of research task. In the end, it is necessary to emphasize that this author's endeavor deserves the attention of the scientific and wider public who are interested in the mentioned part of the Croatian past." Assoc. Ph.D. Zlatko Begonja

"Croatian contemporary history is unsystematically researched and processed, and in many ways politicized, especially the period of the Second World War and the postwar period. Jasenovac is the central point of controversies that marked the postwar period, especially the time after the independence of the Republic of Croatia. Serbian historiography does not give up on the exaggerated figures of Jasenovac victims, which range up to millions of killed Serbs alone. Croatian historiography, on the other hand, does not find the right ways What's more, it opens up space not only to refute Serbian lies, but to stop efforts to investigate Jasenovac as a post-war camp. to the organization of the communist regime. It can be said that this work is unique in many respects and that it is difficult to find a comparable predecessor."
