Summary
Zvonimir Freivogel: Warships - navies of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia 1918-1945
In the Croatian-speaking area, apart from encyclopedic editions, such as the Naval Encyclopedia, no book has been published in which all the warships of the Yugoslav Royal Navy (or just the Royal Navy, or Navy, as it was called at the time of its existence) would be described in one place, their technical data, as well as their fates, even under foreign flags. Already well-known maritime author Zvonimir Freivogel devoted himself to this topic, which deals with warships and auxiliary warships of the former navy, some of which came from the funds of the former Austro-Hungarian Imperial and Royal Navy, and others were built in German, British, French, Belgian and Yugoslav shipyards. They operated on the sea, rivers and lakes until the collapse of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia in 1941, and some after that under the Italian and German flags. Finally, the last of these war veterans served under the flag of the post-war Yugoslav Navy (JRM), which is another story, which will be described in the next part of this small encyclopedia. The book is also richly illustrated, and some photos from private collections have not yet been published, at least not in Croatia, and will surely be interesting to both experts and lovers of maritime subjects.
