Summary
Vladimir Petrović: Slovenian 20th century
Presenting the history of the last century through portraits of great Slovenian writers, politicians, intelligence officers, military leaders, composers, world travelers, humanists, but also one criminal, directly responsible for the death of almost two million people, Vladimir Petrović brings history closer to us in the richly illustrated book Slovenian Lands of the 20th Century in a unique way.
This book can be read in two ways. First of all, it is a presentation of extremely interesting biographies. In it, we will discover the fate of the legendary mayor of Ljubljana who, as a sign of protest, marched to his death with the Yugoslav flag, find out how Vladimir Vauhnik managed to become a triple, maybe even quadruple spy, but also who was the second female European spy who traveled all continents and what her encounter with cannibals was like. We will also find out what was the fate of the world record holder in the number of anthems written, we will find out how Vitomil Župan got 18 years in prison for a reckless joke, but also how one officer managed to be both a Chetnik commander and a partisan general. Finally, this book reveals the biography of the oldest European writer, just like the circumstances of the "two" deaths of the famous Buldožer frontman.
On the other hand, through the biographies of the people who changed this country, we will discover the exciting history of Slovenia in the 20th century.
