The book deals with the history, suffering and fate of the Serbian population in the area of the Požega Valley, which throughout history is also known as the "Golden Valley" (lat. Vallis Aurea).

The book explores in detail the presence of Serbs in the Požega Valley and focuses on difficult historical periods, with a special emphasis on the suffering and the historiography of the genocide during the Second World War. area.

  1. Immigration and coexistence: The author looks back on the historical migrations of the Orthodox population who immigrated to the villages of the eastern and southern part of the Požega basin (such as Jakšić, Trapar, Latinovac and others) at the end of the 17th and the beginning of the 18th century.
  2. Suffering in the Second World War: The central part of the monograph deals with the analysis of crimes, camps and persecutions during the time of the Independent State of Croatia (NDH).
