Pierre Chaunu: The Time of Reforms - Religious History and Civilizational System
The book is dedicated to three centuries of Latin Christianity, two church reforms, the first Protestant and the second Catholic, known as the Counter-Reformation. The structure of the book follows this thematic division. In the first part entitled "Church of the Filled World", the author analyzes, among other things, the technological turning point of the Middle Ages, scholasticism as the highest reach of medieval thought of Latin Christianity, the religious life of the people, the crises of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. The second part of the title "Protestant Reformation" deals with the period of humanism, the development of the book in the sixteenth century, Erasmus of Rotterdam, Luther and the general theory of the Protestant Reformation.
