Summary
Jacques Bril: Lilit or the Dark Mother
Under the jewels and likenesses that marked her epochs and cultures, Lilit overcame the centuries, carrying across all climates the archetypal image of unsurpassed, terrifying, diabolical femininity. Perhaps it will not be this Lilith that will continue to stimulate the interests of historians caught up in this century's upheavals. The attraction that Lilith has for our contemporaries could in fact testify to - what some authors invite us to admit - some kind of exaggeration, or at least a shift of the scales on the scale that gave this personality expressly derogatory qualities.
