Just a few months after the American edition, the latest book by Dr. Irvin Yalom, 60 minutes in the here and now, which he wrote in collaboration with his son Benjamin, is in front of domestic readers. What does Dr. Jalom, the father of group psychotherapy, do in his 90s, when he still wants to counsel patients in therapy sessions, yet has to face his increasing weaknesses, memory loss, a pandemic that has transferred most of his daily life and contacts to social media, grief over the loss of his wife, and even his own mortality? Anyone else would probably give up, but not Dr. Yalom! Instead of retreating from change and drowning in retirement, Jalom considered the limitations of the new reality and developed another revolutionary psychotherapy approach - one-hour online sessions with patients, with people they would never see again. Then, in collaboration with his son Benjamin, he selected twenty-two stories from these hour-long online therapies and published this collection of deeply moving, personal stories. Focusing on what can be achieved in a one-hour, one-on-one meeting with a patient, he focused even more on applying his approach to the here and now.
