With the affirmation of the National Strategy for the Suppression of Drug Abuse in the Republic of Croatia, proactive action on prevention (especially primary) received a reference framework that includes clear goals and expectations of all stakeholders in the implementation of preventive activities, which mostly rely on specific education, psychoeducation and supportive procedures. Thus, psychology became perhaps the only profession that can offer a complete range of interventions, based on scientific knowledge, in the system of early recognition of problems, prevention, early intervention and later treatment (of addicts). This gives psychology as a profession a leading role in the effort to make the problem of addiction as small as possible, because it is certain that this problem will not end in the near future.
