Summary
Zoran Grozdanov, Stipe Odak: Balkan Contextual Theology
This book opens a new research field in Balkan Contextual Theology. Accepting the culturally rich traditions of the Western Balkans as his starting point, he explores their existential and theological significance. Located at the crossroads of civilizations and religions, this region witnessed some of the worst crimes of the 20th century. At the same time, it produced unique textures of intercultural life. The volume deals with some of the most shocking phenomena that are endemic in the region, such as sevdalinka music, intimate forms of neighborhood, archetypes of 'holy warriors', the experience of democratic jet lag, collective melancholy and intergenerational trauma. As the first book of its kind, it aims to encourage the further development of contextual theological thinking in the region and promote its international reception. Co-editor is Stipe Odak.
