Edmund Schneeweis: Beliefs and customs of Serbs and Croats

Schneeweis writes about the beliefs and customs of "Serbo-Croats" as a unique people of three religions, in the sense of the ruling ideology at the time. He tries to explain the differences he encounters with the influence of antiquity, Christianization and the penetration of the culture of neighboring nations throughout history. In the translation, the phrase "Serbo-Croats" was replaced by Serbs and Croats, and the adjective "Serbo-Croatian" was retained, so as not to interfere too much with the author's text.

Schneeweis's work is an ethnological synthesis supported by philology, based on then-recent (1935) ethnological and folkloristic sources, as well as field research.
