Detlev Claussen: Limits of Enlightenment: the social genesis of modern anti-Semitism
Detlev Claussen) was born in 1948 in Hamburg. He studied philosophy, sociology, politics and the science of literature in Frankfurt am Main. He received his doctorate in 1985. He published the books: The cunning of violence. Social revolutions and their theories (List der Gewalt. Soziale Revolutionen und ihre Theorien, 1982); Under the pressure of conformity. On the relationship between critical theory and psychoanalysis (Unterm Konformitätszwang. Zum Verhältnis von Kritischer Theorie und Psycho analyse, 1988); From hatred of Jews to anti-Semitism. Claussen is a professor at the University of Hannover, where he teaches social theory, sociology of culture and sociology of science. He lives in Frankfurt am Main.
