Gojko Čelebić studied ancient Greek language and literature at Charles University, and graduated from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Prague. He defended his doctorate in the field of world comparative studies, on Miguel de Cervantes and his influence on Slavic literature, at the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad.
He is first and foremost a novelist (he published 12 novels), then a storyteller (11 collections of short stories), with another fifteen books in almost all genres - essays, scientific prose, plays, screenplays, including four poetry collections. In stage creation, in addition to theater and film directing, he has about twenty dramas, dramatizations, film scripts, etc. He is the author of two feature films. In his official career, he was a diplomat in Buenos Aires, Tokyo, New York, Cairo and Rome.
