Summary
Reinhard Lauer: History of Russian Literature
This history of Russian literature is the result of a long study of Russian circumstances, Russian authors and admirable works that we thank this literature for. She tries to show the artistic uniqueness of Russian literature, its atypical development and close connection with the political, social and cultural situation in the country. In the 19th century, from the time of Pushkin, Russian literature achieved a greatness in terms of its internal development logic that can probably only be compared with the Italian fine arts of the Renaissance or German music from Bach to Richard Straub. The most important purpose of this history of literature is to convey precisely that greatness that is manifested in the branching system of several constellations of poets and novelists. This cannot be done without considering the origin and development conditions of Russian literature, as well as showing its multiple intertwining with other European literatures - intertextuality is the main element of Russian literature.
