The Rijeka Antiquarian Ex libris, Osijek Antiquarian Ezop, Krilo Labina Association Antiquarian from Labin were declared the best antiquarians.
Explanation of the committee:
In the strong antiquarian competition in Zagreb, one place stands out, in many ways special, to which we decided to award the prize for the best antiquarian in Zagreb because the audience who voted electronically confirmed all the impressions. Biblos antique shop is located in a pleasant space on as many as three floors. During the renovation, the entire area was even provided with anti-earthquake protection, which proved itself very well in the earthquake that caused great damage to Zagreb. The owner Daniel Glavan, who has been running the antique store for twenty years, has shown not only exceptional knowledge, but also great passion for books, especially rare editions, but also for everything that can interest and delight any book lover. This connoisseur of the mystical world of antiquarian bookselling, with a pronounced love and passion for books, is well connected internationally and follows everything that happens in antiquarianism, so he is a real encyclopedia of valuable publications, including old maps. The antique shop is not elitist and focused only on such editions, but also has a wide range of "ordinary" books and magazines. It is characterized by neatly and clearly arranged genres and an excellent selection of books, whether you are interested in the history and theory of film, theater and literature or poetry, fiction, art... One of those dedicated places where everyone, in an extremely pleasant environment and an equally pleasant conversation with the owner and professional staff, can find a book for themselves. When we add to that a beautifully designed and clear website, which also includes texts from the media about this exceptional antique shop, we can say that Biblos deserves first place among Zagreb antique shops.
2021. year, like the previous year 2020, was full of challenges for all of us. It required a lot more effort and work in order to provide our customers with as large a selection of books, maps and views as possible. Thank you very much, we will try to be even better!
Thank youMinistry of Culture and Media for your support and to all of you who supported us with your vote.
Congratulations to everyone else on the awards.
And keep going to read!
