Summary
Helena Tomas: Prehistoric Cyclades
Cultures of the Early Bronze Age on the Cycladic islands in Greece
The book Prehistoric Cyclades is the first edition in the Croatian language with the topic of the Bronze Age in the Aegean islands and on the coast. In that area, called Egeida, three civilizations changed during the Bronze Age - Cycladic, Minoan and Mycenaean. As these are the earliest European civilizations, Aegea can also be considered the cradle of European literacy and culture. The author's desire is to prepare a trilogy with the theme of these three important Bronze Age civilizations. The book Prehistoric Cyclades is the first in a series in the special Lucius library.
The author is an associate professor at the Department of Archeology of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Zagreb and teaches several regular courses in her department on the mentioned topics. The publication of the book Prehistoric Cyclades is an important step forward in popularizing Aegean archaeology. The book is accompanied by rich illustrative material that the author personally collected from 2009 to 2015 on thirty Cycladic islands and at the most important archaeological sites and museums.
