First edition: Bologna: Giacomo Monti, 1687. Vignette on cover. Handwritten notes on back cover and opposite page. It consists of two parts: Memorie historiche della Dalmazia (pp. 1 - 211) and Memorie geographiche della Dalmazia (pp. 212 - 286). It is a detailed history of Dalmatia based on historical sources, a work of a compilation character, with the usual two-part structure, where the first part presents the history of the region, while the second part describes its geography. Although Lučić's De regno greatly helps him to orientate himself in space and time, the author will nevertheless integrate Orbini's narrative tradition into his narrative. For the most part, the work is structured as a series of separate biographies of the rulers. The author provides generous information and writes in a clear and lyrical style.
Casimir Freschot (Morteau, 1640? - Luxeuil, 20 October 1720) - French historian, chronicler and translator, Benedictine. In 1663 he entered the Benedictine order. From 1674 he lived in Italy - first in Rome, then in Bologna and finally in Montecassino. In 1700 he left the Benedictine order and moved to Utrecht, where he taught literature and history. He returned to France, was ordained again in 1718, joining the Saint-Vanne congregation, and died two years later. He is the author of more than 50 works in French, Italian and Latin. He also translated Jacob Spon's travelogue into Italian. Stjepan Antoljak claims that he himself visited Dalmatia.
