The term "benchmarking" is taken from construction terminology in which it denotes a device for determining the relative heights of different points on the earth's surface (levelling). Today, it is used more in business terminology and means roughly (there is no Croatian translation of the word) the main number or indicator that is important and can be used for comparative purposes, that is, finding and applying the best business solutions. The book was written primarily for the needs of marketing studies, but it will serve all those who have to function in a business environment.
