Summary

Mustafa Acar: Turkish Economic Miracle of the 2000s

"The book Turkish Economic Miracle of the 2000s: A Brief History of the Rise and Fall of the author Mustafa Acar represents an exceptional contribution to the understanding of economic, political and wider social relations in Turkey. The book is especially important for the Bosnian public, within which there are numerous myths about Turkey's current economic (failure) success. It is common, and probably most simply, that success is attributed to the actions of individuals, while failure is attributed to the actions of foreign forces (external factors). Acar skilfully deconstructs these and other myths, proving that precisely freedom or 'more freedom' is the basis of the Turkish economic miracle in the first decade of the new millennium. Also, the lack of freedom, the excess of political concentration and all the negative things that result from it, as well as the effects of negative economic circumstances on the global market - on which the Turkish economy significantly depends - are the reasons for the failure in the second decade, until today, when Turkey moves from crisis to crisis." (Admir Čavalić, MA, economist) "Professor Mustafa Acar, in his book The Turkish Economic Miracle of the 2000s: A Brief History of Rises and Fall through the Analysis of the Turkish Economy and Politics, brings us basic lessons from political economy. He shows with arguments that realpolitik in practice often means ignoring these basic lessons, which inevitably generates economic instability. (...) Mustafa Acar does not act as an opponent of Erdoğan's government, he sometimes shows strong sympathy for the results of the government until 2013. year, and does not hide his enthusiasm for the strengthening of Turkey's geopolitical role. However, his scientific integrity does not allow him to remain silent. Where the author considers it necessary to express criticism, he does so without hesitation, but always in the language of facts." (Damir Bećirović, Ph.D., economist)
