Folkloristic-etymological paleontology, reconstruction based on petrified, more or less out of context displaced particles of the former whole is not only a feature of the mythological school to which Natko Nodilo adhered. Over the course of a century, the structuralist-semiotic researches of V. Ivanov and N. Toporov, as well as Vitomir Belaj, Radoslav Katičić and Aleksandar Loma, in the Serbian and Croatian areas, to mention only those who connected the research fragments into a system, were marked by the same struggles. This fact points to the vitality and productivity of "detective" research of the "Nodil" type, to the importance of returning to his research, to the inspiration of that "sci-fi" opus for later reflections on the paths of tradition and intersections of different traditional lines, on autochthonousness, generic connection and typological affinity of motifs, all of which makes Suzana Marjanić's study valuable and exciting to read.
