Summary
Jose Ortega y Gasset: The Dehumanization of Art
Just as «The Revolt of the Mass» is a visionary work in the field of sociology and philosophy, where Ortega y Gasset announces the historical birth of the man-mass, so his «Dehumanization of Art» is an indispensable book for understanding modern art because it explains the unrecognizability of man on the canvases of the twentieth century. José Ortega y Gasset (1883-1955) is one of the most important Spanish and European philosophers and essayists. During Franco's reign, he was in exile in Paris, and in 1946 he returned to his homeland. The Spanish publishing house Revista de Ocddente published his "Collected Works" in twelve volumes. It has been translated into all world languages.
